Why is Sony Not Promoting KTLK (Kuch Toh Log Kahenge)…?

Sony TV

It’s been more than 15 days since I saw a KTLK ad (or promo) on TV. While Sony TV seems to be very excited to promote its thriller series “CID” and “Crime Petrol”, (it should be so, as while the former has been ranked by many as one of the best TV series in the history of Indian Television and has been running continuously for the last 15 years, the later is doing quite a nice job at highlighting the social issues of our society), its most popular soap, “Bade Achche Lagate Hai” and “Saas Bina Sasuraal”, which topped the TRP charts before being shifted to the 9 PM time slot; Sony is not showing any interest in “Kuch Toh Log Kahenge”, which, when launched was expected to be Sony’s biggest triumph card. Considering “Doop Kinare’s”success (for those who don’t know KTLK’s story is based on “Dhoop Kinare”, a Pakistani drama that aired on PTV about 25 years ago), and its dependable caste, which initially included the veteran actor Mohnish Bahl and a bubbly new comer Kritika Kamra, who had gained fame from her role of “Aarohi” in Imagine TV’s “Kitni Mohabbate Hai” . This indifferent approach of SET India towards the show might be attributed to the low TRPs that the show received right from the day one. The show never reached even the 2 TVRs mark and The latest TRP of the show is 0.8. TRPs have been constantly falling since Sharad Kelkar replaced Mohnish Bahl as Dr Ashutosh.

Does that mean KTLK (Kuch Toh Log Kahenge) is nearing end…?

A few days ago there was a rumour that KTLK (Kuch Toh Log Kahenge) and “Dekha Ek Khwab” might go off air to make room for Indian Idol 6. But Sony’s Business Head Ms Sneha Rajani rubbished the rumour on Twitter. Here is a snapshot of her tweet.Sneha Rajani Screenshot

This tweet might give KTLK fans a sigh of relief. But this relief is going to be a very short lived one. This is because, recently Amitabh Bachchan had a meeting with Sony officials. I think you’d have got it !… Right ? Anyway, if you didn’t, I’d like to inform you that the meeting was about fixing dates for KBC-6 (Kaun Banega Corerpati 6) shooting . So, after Indian Idol 6, KBC 6 is all set to pose danger for KTLK.

First Indian Idol 6 will go on air replacing Comedy Circus (if reports are to be believed), and then after a couple of months (may be sometime in August or September ), KBC 6 is expected to hit the screen. Now, since “Dekha Ek Khwab” and KTLK are not doing very good (in terms of TRPs), there is all possibility that Sony might take a decision to take these shows off air. Well whatever happens…..lets hope for the best.

That's all for now ! But stay in touch. I’ll be posting even more interesting buzz & trivia about the show.
